Modern bathroom with PIXIE smart home control
Here's how it works. Two modes. Every bathroom scenario covered.
How it works

Two modes. One switch. Every scenario covered.

Run-On Timer

Trigger it. Walk away. It turns itself off.

Trigger the switch manually or via a sensor, and the load keeps running for a set time after you leave. Set anywhere from 1 minute to 24 hours via the PIXIE PLUS app. Set in hourly increments manually on the device.

In the final minute before the timer expires, the LED indicator flashes to let you know it's about to turn off.

Ideal for Bathroom exhaust fans. The fan stays on after the light is switched off, long enough to clear steam and moisture, then turns itself off automatically.
Schedules

Set it once. It runs on its own every day.

Set the switch to turn on and off at specific times across the day, every day of the week. Set once in the PIXIE PLUS app and forget it.

You can customise the schedule per day, so weekday mornings and weekend mornings can have different timings.

Ideal for Heated towel rails, walk-in robes, and any load that works better on a predictable routine.
And you can run both on the same switch. Schedule it for the morning, run-on timer for any time outside the schedule. Every bathroom use case covered.
MASTERlink
No sensor wire? MASTERlink handles it.
A PIXIE PIR sensor anywhere in the bathroom can trigger the timer switch to start the exhaust fan, wirelessly, over the PIXIE Bluetooth Mesh. The sensor does not need to be cabled to the switch. Configured once in the SAL PIXIE or PIXIE PLUS App, then runs independently, no Gateway required. Requires firmware 1.3+ on the sensor.

Now here's the perfect example. A heated towel rail using both modes at once: scheduled for the morning, run-on timer for everything else.
Heated towel rail

Warm towels waiting. Every morning. Automatically.

Set a schedule for your heated towel rail to come on before your alarm. When you step out of the shower, your towel is already warm. The run-on timer keeps it running as long as you need, then turns it off on its own.

Combining schedules and run-on timers on the same switch gives you control at every level:

Schedule
Turn the towel rail on at 6:30am and off at 9:00am — automatically, every morning.
Run-on timer
If someone uses the bathroom outside the schedule, the towel rail runs for the set duration and turns off. No forgetting.
Manual override
Press the switch to run it manually at any time. The timer takes over and turns it off automatically.

Every use case is covered without lifting a finger once it's set up.

Typical morning routine
🌅
6:30 am
Schedule fires
Towel rail turns ON automatically. No one touched a thing.
🚿
7:15 am
You step out of the shower
Warm towel. Already there. Exactly when you need it.
9:00 am
Schedule ends
Towel rail turns OFF. No one home, no energy wasted.
👆
Any other time
Manual press, run-on timer takes over
Runs for the set duration, then turns off automatically. No forgetting.

Typical towel rail operation: morning schedule + run-on timer for additional use.

It gets smarter when you add sensors. Here's what's possible.
Works with PIXIE Sensors

One sensor. One fan. Multiple bathrooms.

When you add PIXIE PIR sensors, the fan turns on automatically when someone enters the bathroom and keeps running on its own timer after they leave, regardless of how many people use other bathrooms connected to the same fan.

Why the timer controls the fan, not the sensor

The sensor triggers it. The timer decides how long it runs.

PIXIE PIR sensors have a maximum hold time of 30 minutes. That's fine for lights, but a bathroom fan often needs longer to properly ventilate after a shower. The solution: let the sensor trigger the fan via MasterLink, but let the timer control how long it runs.

The sensor's job ends the moment it sends the trigger. Everything after that belongs to the timer.
Multi-bathroom setup

Shared fan, multiple bathrooms. It all just works.

When one fan serves multiple bathrooms, each bathroom has its own sensor wired to its own lights. Each sensor independently sends a MasterLink trigger to the fan timer, so when one bathroom empties, only its lights turn off — the fan keeps running until all bathrooms are clear and the timer completes its countdown.

The diagram shows exactly how this plays out across two rooms.

Sensor to timer: how it flows
Step 1
PIR sensor detects motion
Sends a MasterLink ON message to the Smart Timer Switch.
Step 2
Timer switch turns fan ON
Countdown starts. The timer now controls how long the fan runs, not the sensor.
Step 3
Sensor hold time expires, lights off
The bathroom light turns off — but the fan keeps running on the timer.
Step 4
Timer expires, fan turns OFF
Bathroom fully ventilated. No early cutoff, no running all night.
Multi-bathroom: one fan, two rooms
B1 Bathroom 1 empties, lights off. Fan still running because Bathroom 2 is occupied.
B2 Bathroom 2 empties, lights off. Timer now runs its full countdown from the last trigger.
F Fan turns off after the run-on period. Both bathrooms properly ventilated.
Going further: PROGRAMode
For large homes, stop the fan the moment all bathrooms are empty.

For homes with a PIXIE Gateway and PROGRAMode enabled, you can build logic that monitors the state of every sensor. When all bathroom sensors have timed out, PROGRAMode sends an off command to the fan immediately, rather than waiting for each sensor's individual delay. Particularly useful in large homes with two or three bathrooms sharing a single extraction system.
