Start with the PIXIE PLUS app available free on the App Store and Google Play. Create an account, then follow the in-app setup guide to add your devices. Each PIXIE product has a QR code you scan during commissioning.
If you're starting from scratch, your PIXIE-trained electrician will commission the system at installation. After that, the app is your control centre for everything scheduling, scenes, groups, and automations.
First, make sure Bluetooth is enabled on your phone and that you're within range of your PIXIE devices. Check that the devices have power.
If you're still having trouble: force-close and reopen the app, check that your phone's OS is up to date, and try toggling Bluetooth off and on again. For remote access issues, check that your PIXIE Gateway is online. Our support library has detailed troubleshooting guides for each product.
No, PIXIE runs on Bluetooth Mesh, which means your lights and switches work even when the internet is down. Schedules, scenes, and physical control all operate locally.
You only need an internet connection for two things: remote access (controlling your home when you're away) and voice control through Google Home, Apple HomeKit, or Amazon Alexa. Everything else works independently.
New PIXIE devices need to be installed and wired by a licensed electrician first. Once installed and powered on, open the PIXIE PLUS app, tap the + button, and scan the QR code on the device to commission it.
Your electrician can also commission new devices for you at the time of installation, it typically takes less than a minute per device.
PIXIE works with Apple HomeKit, Google Home, Amazon Alexa, Siri, and Samsung SmartThings for voice and platform control. You can also connect air conditioning (via Climatiq), motorised blinds and curtains, smart garage doors, and ceiling fans from Hunter Pacific, Ventair, and Big Ass Fans.
See the full list on our PIXIE Works With page.
Schedules are set per device or room via a dedicated schedules section not in the device dialogue. Here in Schedules you choose your on/off times. You can also use sunrise and sunset triggers so your home adapts to the time of year automatically.
Scenes let you set multiple devices to specific states with a single tap, or a single voice command. Create scenes for Morning, Movie Night, Away, and any other moment that matters to you.
If you're leaving devices behind for the new owner, each PIXIE device can be factory reset through the app (or by pressing each device 9 times quickly in about 2-3 seconds.)
If you're taking devices to your new home, contact our support team and we'll walk you through the relocation process for your specific products. Call 1800 256 843 or email pixiesupport@sal.net.au.
PIXIE works exclusively through licensed electricians, all wiring and installation must be carried out by a qualified professional.
