Using PIXIE’s install/scan/control workflow, lighting intensity and colour temperature were configured for manual adjustment or automatic scheduling through the day. This enabled indoor lighting to be aligned with outdoor conditions to support comfort and consistent light levels, while meeting the intended aesthetic and the homeowner’s budget.

In this project, the approach was guided by close collaboration with the homeowners and their clear vision for balancing capability with practicality. The Human Centric Lighting was implemented for a defined purpose, supporting day-to-day comfort and routines, not just adding technology for its own sake.
THE CHALLENGE
The home owner has deep technical capabilities and requirements whilst requesting a cost effective outcome.
The balancing act of meeting the needs of a home owner with specific expectations around human centric lighting needs coupled with a personal technical knowledge rarely encountered, demanded a unique PIXIE solution and market engagement.
PIXIE’s Human Centric Lighting (HCL) solution for downlights and LED strips and panels, meant this advanced users was able to achieve the indoor comfort outcome they desired. The PIXIE team engaged deeply to assist the homeowners to customise this outcome and leveraged the home owners own deep technical know-how to boot.
BENEFITS
Wherever a tunable light source could be specified, it was incorporated into the design. This included flicker-free, high-CRI PIXIE PLUS downlights, colour-tunable PIXIE LED strip lighting, and RGB LED strip lighting in selected areas.
A key advantage of delivering these outcomes with PIXIE, rather than a legacy lighting control system, was the straightforward installation approach. PIXIE is deployed using traditional Australian wiring practices, including standard two-wire dimming where required, and the PIXIE PLUS Coolum downlights connect via conventional plug bases. As a result, achieving a whole-home HCL solution did not require rewiring, specialised cabling, or significant additional labour.
This “no wiring changes” approach makes sophisticated lighting control more practical and attainable in residential projects, enabling biologically appropriate lighting outcomes with minimal extra equipment and a strong return in day-to-day comfort and usability.

Smart Human Centric Lighting Dimmers
The PIXIE SDD400TRSBTAM smart dimmer forms the foundation of a PIXIE HCL smart home system, combining simple 2-wire installation with exceptional dimming performance and intuitive app control.
Bluetooth Mesh enabled, it supports schedules, groups, and scenes as core functions, allowing lighting to be tailored for everyday routines without complexity. RGB LED Strip Control
The PIXIE Universal LED Strip Controller (RGBW/CCT) provides flexible, high-performance control for 12V/24V constant-voltage LED strip, including single colour, RGB, RGBW, and tunable white (CCT) applications.
Configured via a simple DIP-switch, it delivers smooth, flicker-free dimming and colour control through the PIXIE app, with support for scenes, groups, and schedules as part of the broader PIXIE system. A bell-press input also allows basic local control using a standard momentary switch where required
PIXIE Touch Panel
The optional PIXIE Ambience Touch Panel delivers a butter-smooth touch screen experience to control your PIXIE smart home from one or more centralised locations.
In addition to the useable touch screen, the 4 Multifunction control buttons deliver rapid access to control common devices, groups or scenes and can be tailored according to home owner’s needs for the ultimate smart home convenience
Smart Timer Switches
PIXIE Smart Timer Switches provide Run-on-Timer capability as well as 24hour 7 day scheduling capability. Run-on Timers can operate anywhere from 1 minute to 24 hours, automatically switching off when the timer expires.
Excellent energy management capabilities built-in makes these perfect for exhaust fans in bathrooms, linen cupboards, walk-in-robes and under stair storage zones.
Smart Double power points
Simply swap for smarts and make your dumb things smart. Schedules, power moniting, child-lock and individual control of each socket delivers a world of smart home options for outdoor living scenarios.
And with a range of four interchangeable stylish faceplates and tactile on/off buttons with LED indicators and, the super-special multipurpose button in the middle, the humble power point just got a lot smarter.
