Simple

The homeowner can activate any of four distinct lighting layouts with a single tap. Each scene is clearly named and accessible through the PIXIE app, making it intuitive for the whole household. Switching from a relaxed spa atmosphere to a full entertaining spread takes seconds.

Smart

All 20 garden light points are individually addressable and grouped into scenes that respond to the mood of the moment — security, entertaining, spa for one, or spa for a crowd. The system doubles as a passive security layer, with night scenes running on schedule to maintain a lived-in appearance.

Scalable

Because the installation used PIXIE GPOs and waterproof enclosures rather than hard-wired circuits buried through finished landscaping, additional points can be added in future without disturbing the garden. New scenes and groupings can be created entirely in software.

Background
The Challenge

The homeowner at this Clifton Springs property had invested significantly in a fully completed, architecturally designed garden. Established garden beds, concrete paths, specimen trees, and a prized orchid collection were already in place, and were non-negotiable. She wanted 20 lighting points around the property perimeter, plus four distinctly different lighting scenes.

Five local electrical companies had assessed the job before Darren Hall from KD Power Control was called in. Every one reached the same conclusion: the only viable path was to excavate, cutting through concrete and disturbing garden beds. For this homeowner, that was not an option.

Getting power and control to 20 separate external points across a finished property, while maintaining scene-level intelligence, demanded a solution that worked with the existing environment rather than against it.

What Was Installed
The PIXIE Solution

Darren and the KD Power Control team designed an installation around PIXIE GPOs, PIXIE Waterproof Enclosures, and SAL external garden lights paired with SAL transformers. By routing the system through weatherproof GPOs and surface-mounted enclosures, the team eliminated the need for any in-ground cable runs through finished areas.

The SAL transformer system gave the installation its intelligence. Each of the 20 light points could be individually addressed and grouped into scenes within the PIXIE platform. Darren configured four distinct lighting layouts covering security, entertaining, intimate spa use, and group gatherings.

The result was a fully functional, scene-capable garden lighting system delivered without damage to concrete paths, garden beds, trees, or the prized orchid collection.

Living With PIXIE
What the Homeowner Can Do

The Clifton Springs homeowner can now walk through her garden in the evening and choose from four purposefully designed lighting scenes, all from her phone. When guests arrive, the entertaining scene brings the full perimeter to life. When the spa is used privately, a softer scene sets the tone without flooding the garden with light.

The same scenes that create atmosphere also serve a practical security function after hours, with scheduled night lighting providing visible deterrence. Every light point, scene, and automation sits within an interface the homeowner controls herself.

“Five other companies told her it couldn’t be done without digging everything up. PIXIE gave us the tools to prove them wrong not a single plant was disturbed.”
